How Fan2Play points are calculated

The Fan2Play points system translates what happens on the field into a numeric score for each of your eleven players. The total is the sum of your team, with the captain's score multiplied by 2x and the vice-captain's by 1.5x. The exact point values for each event are set by the operator and versioned with the format and the season — the table below is the standard reference used across the major Indian fantasy operators and is close to what Fan2Play applies. Always confirm the current values on the contest page before you enter.

This page is a working reference, not a replacement for the operator's published table. We date every change at the bottom of the page and link the operator's official scoring page so you can verify before you play.

Starter, impact and strike-rate rules

Some operators award an "impact" or "playing" bonus simply for being in the XI. The 4-point starter bonus is common: a player in the starting XI gets +4 pts regardless of performance. The strike-rate and economy bonuses are applied on a minimum-overs-bowled or minimum-balls-faced basis. If a batter faces fewer than 10 balls, or a bowler bowls fewer than 2 overs, the strike-rate and economy bonuses do not apply.

Worked example — a top-order batter

Imagine your captain is a top-order batter in a T20 who scores 78 off 52 balls, with 7 fours and 2 sixes. The breakdown:

  • Runs: 78 × 1 = 78 pts
  • Boundary bonus: 7 × 4 = 28 pts
  • Six bonus: 2 × 6 = 12 pts
  • Half-century bonus: 8 pts
  • Strike rate: 78 ÷ 52 × 100 = 150.00, well above 12 rpb threshold → 4 pts
  • Starter bonus: 4 pts

Total: 78 + 28 + 12 + 8 + 4 + 4 = 134 pts. Multiplied by 2x for captain = 268 pts contributed to your team. A useful captain pick in a small league, but not explosive.

Worked example — a death-overs bowler

A fast bowler bowling 4 overs in a T20, conceding 32 runs, taking 2 wickets (both bowled), no maiden overs. The breakdown:

  • Wickets: 2 × 25 = 50 pts
  • Bowled bonus: 2 × 8 = 16 pts
  • Economy: 32 ÷ 4 = 8.0 rpo. Above the 6 rpo threshold, so no economy bonus.
  • Starter bonus: 4 pts

Total: 50 + 16 + 4 = 70 pts. As vice-captain (1.5x), that is 105 pts. As a non-multiplier bowler, 70 pts is a fine supporting score; the points system is kinder to bowlers with the LBW/bowled bonus than to run-out merchants.

Worked example — a wicketkeeper

A wicketkeeper who takes 2 catches and 1 stumping, scores 12 off 8 balls, no boundaries. Breakdown:

  • Runs: 12 × 1 = 12 pts
  • Catches: 2 × 8 = 16 pts
  • Stumping: 1 × 12 = 12 pts
  • Starter bonus: 4 pts

Total: 12 + 16 + 12 + 4 = 44 pts. Wicketkeepers can be the most cost-efficient slot on your team because the 8-pt catch and 12-pt stumping rewards them for dismissals that other fielders don't get. Pick a keeper who keeps to a strike bowler in helpful conditions, not a bat-at-7 gloveman.

What changes when DLS is applied

For shortened games, the operator's points system is applied to the revised target. Your batters are scored on runs actually scored, but the strike-rate calculation is often applied to the full DLS-par innings rather than the abbreviated one. The bowling economy is calculated on the actual overs bowled. If a match is washed out before the second innings begins, most operators refund the entry fee; if a result is reached under DLS, the points are settled on the DLS-adjusted scorecard. Read the operator's DLS policy before a rain-threatened fixture.

Versioning and the corrections log

This table reflects the standard reference used by major Indian fantasy operators. The exact values on Fan2Play contests may differ. If you spot a value that does not match your contest's score, please contact the editorial desk with the contest ID and the date, and we will update the reference and add a correction note at the bottom of this page.

Editorial reminder

The values on this page are the standard reference. The current Fan2Play table may differ for specific formats, promotions, or contests. Always read the scoring rules panel on the contest page before you enter.

Does the captain's score always multiply by 2x?

Yes, in the standard format. Some operator-specific "double captain" or "triple captain" cards change this for a specific contest; those are clearly labelled in the contest rules.

What happens if a player is not in the playing XI?

The operator's substitute policy applies. Most operators credit a substitute from the same role if one is available in your team. If no substitute is available, the slot is scored at zero.

Do bowlers get points for run-outs?

Generally no. Run-outs are credited to the fielder, not the bowler. Wicket points (25) are awarded for bowled, LBW, caught, stumped and hit-wicket, with the LBW/bowled bonus of 8 pts added on top.

Are these values the same for T10 and ODI?

No. Strike-rate and economy thresholds differ. The values above are T20 references. ODI thresholds are usually 4 rpo for bowlers and 50 runs per 100 balls for batters. T10 thresholds are tighter.
